Bloomington Indiana tonight. Last year our show here took a twist when this guy Hakeem tugged on Ryan’s ankle after seeing the (small) size of the crowd and said: “Should I get my sax?” — We said “Yes” and he ended up being amazing. That version of Bury Me is on the Pasty Tapes (EP we gave out to our reps). Tonight was just a quick 8 song set before Robert Bradley’s Blackwater Surprise took the stage.
Ryan came up to me during Robert’s set and mentioned that both bands we were playing with had timeless classic songs in their sets. And he’s right. I think he meant “Once Upon a Time (I Remember Marvin Gaye)” from Robert Bradley, and “Cathedrals” from Jump Little Children. Both bands are fantastic, live and on record, and those songs in particular strike you in their sets.
Cincinnati tomorrow… which reminds me that Edgardo Alfonzo and Al Leiter really came through tonight for the Mets.
